Rowan EDC President Rod Crider was selected to the Charlotte Business Journal’s (CBJ) inaugural Power 100 class, the organization announced today (Sept. 30).
The Power 100 distinguishes “the people who are exercising the power they have to make more of the region — building bigger companies, launching unique training initiatives, investing in emerging corridors, questioning the status quo, innovating and diversifying, and, most importantly, targeting ways to bring more and better jobs here.”
In Crider’s section, the CBJ states: “As Charlotte’s industrial real estate market has heated up over the last several years, few counties have benefited as much as Rowan County under the leadership of Rod Crider. Its proximity to Interstate 85 has made Rowan a hot spot for industrial users such as Macy’s Inc., which is investing $584 million there in a new fulfillment center.”
Under Crider’s leadership, the Rowan EDC has moved to a public-private partnership model and raised $1.5 million from the private sector to support the community’s growth initiatives, including new programs for existing business retention, talent attraction and marketing.
“We’re extremely grateful for Rod’s leadership in helping to propel Rowan County forward,” said Luke Fisher, Chair of the Rowan EDC Board of Directors and President of Fisher Realty Inc. “He and his team work tirelessly to reduce poverty, increase prosperity and improve quality of life across Rowan, and he is certainly deserving of this honor.”
