Funding Partners

The Rowan Economic Development Council (Rowan EDC) receives a majority of its funding from its government partners Rowan County, the cities of Salisbury and Kannapolis and the towns of China Grove, Cleveland, East Spencer, Faith, Granite Quarry, Landis, Rockwell, and Spence.

In 2020, the Rowan EDC launched its economic development plan, Forward Rowan, and established a public-private partnership using its affiliated nonprofit, Rowan Growth Partners. The Board of Directors

The board is comprised of ten members who meet at 3:30 pm on the second Thursday of every month. Members are appointed to a three-year term. After one term is completed, the board member may be re-appointed to a second term, but can serve no more than six consecutive years.

Board membership consists of:
• Seven appointed members by the County Commission of Rowan County
• Two appointed members by the City Council of the City of Salisbury
• One appointed member by the governing bodies of the towns of Rowan County
• Up to five appointed members by the Rowan EDC Board of Directors from among its private and other non-profit funders
• The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce serves as an ex-officio member
