The Rowan EDC is proud to announce that Aerowood Aviation, a respected provider of aviation services including charter flights and pilot training, has selected Rowan County as the site for its newest expansion.
Aerowood Aviation will lease hangar space at Mid Carolina Regional Airport, where it will invest at least $15 million in business personal property, including aircraft and aviation-related equipment. The expansion will create nine full-time jobs over the next three years, with additional contract employees supporting ongoing operations.
“Our county has made strategic investments over the years to ensure Mid Carolina Regional Airport is a top-tier facility — not only to attract high-quality companies like Aerowood Aviation, but also to better serve those who fly in and out of Rowan County,” said Greg Edds, Chairman of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners. “Our Regional Airport plays a big role in Rowan County’s economy. This announcement is a direct result of that long-term vision, and we’re proud to see it paying off with new jobs, new investment, and a stronger, more diversified local economy.”
“We’re excited to welcome Aerowood Aviation to Rowan County,” said Rod Crider, President of the Rowan EDC. “This expansion further solidifies the strategic importance of Mid Carolina Regional Airport as a driver of economic opportunity. We’re fortunate to have such an asset in our community — one that continues to attract high-quality investment and support growth across the region.”
In addition to the tax base impact, the project is expected to generate approximately $151,525 in net tax revenue and nearly $2 million in lease revenue over the next decade. The County will also benefit from increased aircraft fuel sales and local spending from employees and flight school students.
Aerowood Aviation’s decision underscores Rowan County’s competitive advantages, including its strategic location in the Charlotte region, strong infrastructure, and business-friendly environment.
