An Entrepreneurial Culture Supporting New Ventures
Rowan County has a long history of successful entrepreneurs who have made their mark on the world and enjoyed much personal success. Companies like Cheerwine, Food Lion, Go Burrito! and Integro Technologies all started here because of Rowan’s positive business climate, access to customers and talented workers. They continue to grow year after year to serve markets far beyond our county borders.
Rowan County values these individuals and small businesses and their importance to the local economy. So much so, we’ve developed the new Rowan IDEA Center, a unique partnership among government, academia and private sector leaders in Rowan County to build an innovation center to support new ventures and small business growth.
The Rowan IDEA Center is housed at the West End Plaza, and offers educational and training labs and rented office and prototype workspace. The EDC team is here to help entrepreneurs and business owners navigate and leverage the many resources available to get a business off the ground and to grow.
Because we are strategically located within the Charlotte, NC Metro area, Rowan County provides entrepreneurs with access to regional and national markets, a high quality of life, and a range of available real estate space—all the resources needed to get a business going.
Working in partnership with the N.C. Department of Commerce, we offer one-on-one consultations to people interested in starting a business, small business owners in need of general support, and entrepreneurs interested in moving to Rowan County. We’re here to answer your questions, and help you navigate topics like regulatory requirements, licensing stipulations, small-business training and more.
