The Rowan EDC is excited to announce the return of the Aspire & Hire Community Career Expo, an essential event for connecting local employers with the existing and emerging workforce. Set for April 9, 2024, at West End Plaza, 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd W, Salisbury, NC, this expo is dedicated to enhancing workforce development in Rowan County through employment opportunities and internships.
Building on the success of last year’s expo, which saw 200 Rowan-Salisbury School students and over 100 community members engaging with around 50 employers, expectations are set for an even greater turnout. Supported by Rowan Partner’s for Education, the Rowan-Salisbury Schools CTE Program, Rowan EDC, Rowan Chamber, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, NCWorks, NCWorks Next Gen, and Novant Health, this year’s event promises to be a cornerstone for local career development.
The expo will take place in two sessions. The morning session targets Rowan-Salisbury Schools’ high school seniors ready to step into the workforce and college-bound students seeking networking and internship opportunities. This initiative aims to spotlight the diverse career opportunities within Rowan County, motivating our youth to consider and commit to local employment paths.
Kendall Henderson, Rowan EDC Director of Business Development, underscores the expo’s significance: “Retaining our homegrown talent is vital for Rowan County’s growth and prosperity. The Aspire & Hire Career Expo is a key initiative to increase our students’ awareness of the rewarding career paths available locally. We’re here to show them that pursuing opportunities outside Rowan post-education is not the only path. Our community is filled with untapped potential, and it starts with recognizing the opportunities that lie within.”
The afternoon session, open to all job seekers from 1:30-3:30 p.m., will showcase 50 of Rowan County’s leading employers across various industries. Attendees will have the chance to network with hiring managers and recruiters, participate in onsite interviews, and explore potential job offers. The Salisbury Transit system is providing complimentary rides to the job fair on April 9th. Simply tell the driver you’re attending the job fair to qualify. Advance registration for this session is available on Eventbrite. For assistance with registration, please visit the NCWorks’s Career Center (1904 S Main Street, Salisbury, NC, 28144) Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“The Chamber’s Workforce Development Alliance is pleased to work with our community partners on Spring and Fall Job Fairs,” said Elaine Spalding, Rowan Chamber President. “The April 9th event gives employers, job seekers, and students an opportunity to connect. Please join us!”
